The Importance of Now...

Why The Urgency? I Can Start This Anytime!

Indeed you can but how many times have you said that to yourself in the past? How many times will you say it in the future? These well known sayings may help:

"The two rules of procrastination: 1) Do it today. 2) Tomorrow will be today tomorrow" - Author Unknown

"You may delay, but time will not" - Benjamin Franklin

"Procrastination is opportunity's assassin" - Victor Kiam

That's enough, I think you get the message.

It is all too easy to wallow in comfort and security regardless of how unfulfilling your current work is. If you dream of being a photographer, wedding or otherwise, how long will it be before you finally take control, even on a part time basis at first?

Regardless of what you do, the next 3, 4, 5 years will pass anyway just as the past 5 years have.

Did you think about doing something for yourself 5 years ago? Did you do it? Those years have gone now but what if you HAD done something, anything to make a change in your life, where would you be now?

I have taught many students not just in photography, but business also. Even though I have been a photographer since the age of 13, my background is also in business dating back to when I was 17 at college where I ran a photography company as part of the college business studies course. I knew back then that if I wanted something, I had to go and get it...me, nobody was going to give it to me!

I have followed that rule all my life and NEVER let anything stand in my way when I really wanted to do something. After a skydiving "incident" (mishap) in 1998, I practically gave away everything I owned, jacked in my then current job which I disliked but which was a means to an end, and headed off to Spain with nothing more than a suitcase, stereo, parachute and about £3,000 in cash.

Here is my log entry for that skydive with instructor comments...

Skydive Malfunction Log Book Entry

I did have the jump filmed but alas it was stolen when we were burgled in Spain...but here are some clips from those great years jumping out of planes with great friends.

... I had just started training to be a skydive cameraman when all this happened and eventually gave up after I had a further 3 malfunctions and ended up living in Spain for 10 years which were without doubt, the defining years of my life.

That is when I started my 2nd (but full time this time) wedding photography business alongside a real estate company I had also started. That is when I started to write and publish work on teaching photography. That is where I met my wonderful wife and had our two fantastic children and that is where I bought my first property. Certainly no regrets from me for taking various risks in life.

From little acorns...

If the desire is there and the will and passion to simply start something, amazing things can happen. I don't know if I would have done all of the above if I hadn't had such a near miss at 10,000 feet but I don't want the same to happen to you.

You don't need a life threatening accident or incident to make the change, the fact that you are reading this probably means you are almost certainly looking for "something". Because this site is photography related, it hopefully means that you want to finally do something you enjoy each day rather than what you are doing now?

Take time to think about your future and if you have any questions about the product, please get in touch. We are, for a limited time, offering free access to our membership site where you will receive ongoing support for as long as you wish.

As Nike says, "Just Do It" and live every day, tomorrow could be your last...(but let's hope not)!

  • "All going well here. Had a productive first wedding season with 12 weddings all in all and quite a few booked for next year. It's been a very enjoyable learning curve and something I wouldn't have been able to start on without your excellent course! - Clive Nolan"

  • "Just wanted to say thanks. I got the DVD course at the end of last year in preparation for a friends wedding. I gave them the photos last week and they are absolutely thrilled. Definitely could not have done it without your help. The basic camera setting you recommend in the DVD was worth the price on it's own. I didn't get a single badly exposed shot " - Lee Brookes, UK."

  • "Nick, Thank you very much. I purchased your Wedding Blueprint last year. Last Saturday, I did my first wedding. I used a lot of your tips and everything went better than planned. Thank you, your DVD's gave me the confidence I needed to do the job. The photos turned out better than I could of expected. Now all I can think of is, Roll on wedding number two, three,......etc etc. - Mick Lumley, IRELAND "

  • "I am so glad that I got that problem with PayPal sorted. I received the discs a few days later and all I want to say is "Wow, probably the best tutorials I have ever bought". The professionalism of the videos, the way it then cuts to show the result in Photoshop is awesome. You've a great manner and no ego and I can see you really want to get it across to your students. - T.H. Dublin."
