About Us

I am not a "guru".

I am here to teach you the basic fundamentals of starting a wedding photography business including all the guidance you need to use your camera kit to produce better results that will kick start your business or propel the one you already have.

Hopefully this course will fire up your own imagination, spark off your own thought processes and creativity, empower you and pass the baton over to you to run with. The Wedding Photography Blueprint is all about you...

My name is Nick Stubbs, I am a professional photographer, author and happily married man with two young children. I have used SLR cameras since circa 1980 (aged 13 where I took photography as a module in year 9 at school) and have shot many weddings since the 1990's. I also shoot commercial and stock photography in my spare time (which we also cover as a bonus feature of the Wedding Photography Blueprint DVDs).

I served my "time" as an apprentice from very early in life when I worked with a local wedding, portrait and press photographer from around 16 years old. I also worked part time in a camera shop where I could learn more about equipment from a "hands-on" perspective. Then I ran a photography business as part of a business studies course at college which worked incredibly well. I would shoot all college events, have the results printed into a large album which would make its way around college collecting orders as it went (all pre-digital of course).

I have also started a wedding, portrait, property and commercial photography business 3 times in two different countries. London, then in Spain and then back in Dorset in the UK. I am still an active wedding photographer and shoot a few weddings each year mainly in Dorset and along the south coast of the UK as well as teaching wedding photography through group and one-to-one courses.

From towards the end of the last century, I lived in Spain for 10 years where I shot many weddings in some very cool places:

  • On board a very nice catamaran
  • On many beaches
  • In some beautiful gardens on the Rock of Gibraltar
  • In 5 Star luxury hotels (The Savoy in Florence Italy, the Park Lane Hotel in London and the Ritz Carlton in Marbella, Spain)
  • Ancient monasteries
  • In a small cave in the Spanish mountains
  • Churches new and old
  • Luxury villas
  • Registry offices

I was even lucky enough to be flown to Tuscany in Italy (Florence) for a very special 3 day wedding for which I spent 5 days in the stunning Tuscan countryside...an experience I shall never forget!

You can probably see that from the list of venues above, I have come across and dealt with just about every possible lighting situation and difficult environment possible. One wedding was so small that I was asked to be a witness at the event and ended up in a Spanish bar over the road for the reception with just myself, the couple (elopees) and the very cool Dutch vicar (who had been on a "sabbatical" for a number of years) in attendance.

From very low lighting in a small cave wedding to harsh sunlight on many of the beaches and from dealing with celebrity TV and music industry guests to heavy rain, I have seen it all.

I hope to pass on much of this knowledge and information in these Blueprint DVD's and accompanying eBooks but please remember, this is a Blueprint for your business and is designed to give you the basic understanding and knowledge, coupled with some very handy tips and inside information to help get you started.

After that, it is down you to build and create your own style.

Photography has been (apart from my family) the one constant love in my life from a very early age to present day and as far as I can see, well into the future. If you feel the same way about photography and have been thinking of taking it to the next level, the Wedding Photography Blueprint DVD's should help get you there.

All the best,

Nick Stubbs

  • "All going well here. Had a productive first wedding season with 12 weddings all in all and quite a few booked for next year. It's been a very enjoyable learning curve and something I wouldn't have been able to start on without your excellent course! - Clive Nolan"

  • "Just wanted to say thanks. I got the DVD course at the end of last year in preparation for a friends wedding. I gave them the photos last week and they are absolutely thrilled. Definitely could not have done it without your help. The basic camera setting you recommend in the DVD was worth the price on it's own. I didn't get a single badly exposed shot " - Lee Brookes, UK."

  • "Nick, Thank you very much. I purchased your Wedding Blueprint last year. Last Saturday, I did my first wedding. I used a lot of your tips and everything went better than planned. Thank you, your DVD's gave me the confidence I needed to do the job. The photos turned out better than I could of expected. Now all I can think of is, Roll on wedding number two, three,......etc etc. - Mick Lumley, IRELAND "

  • "I am so glad that I got that problem with PayPal sorted. I received the discs a few days later and all I want to say is "Wow, probably the best tutorials I have ever bought". The professionalism of the videos, the way it then cuts to show the result in Photoshop is awesome. You've a great manner and no ego and I can see you really want to get it across to your students. - T.H. Dublin."
